We used this agency to help with my grandmother. The aid not only has taken the most exceptional care of her, physically and emotionally, but has become a part of our family. She cares for Nana’s medications,, helping her ear, keeping her clean, and most importantly, safe. Nana was reluctant at first to have someone staying with her but the aid quickly developed a relationship with her and keeps her mind sharp by having conversations with her all day long. The commitment and love is more than expected.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Effective Home Care and about Phionah, the agency owner. Phionah is compassionate, smart, capable, and experienced, and did an excellent job over a 2 year period caring for my 92 year old mother who was bedridden and had dementia. Phionah developed a warm and caring relationship with my mother that brightened her days. Phionah’s calm and soothing demeanor and her respect and warmth helped my mother to be less agitated and to act more like her pre-dementia self. Phionah very capably took care of hygiene, dressing, toileting, and medications, and also recommended and showed us how to use cutting-edge and affordable transfer equipment that made it possible for my Mom to stay at home. (None of the other professionals we were working with, including geriatricians and physical therapists, were nearly as helpful). Because my mom needed 24 hour care, and two people to transfer her from bed to wheelchair, we needed multiple shifts of home health aides. Phionah recruited compassionate & reliable aides; managed their work quality and schedule, and always found substitutes if an aide couldn’t make it on a particular day. She was responsive whenever we had a question and generous in the amount of time and attention she provided. In short, Effective Home Care lived up to its name. I have worked with many home health care agencies, and Effective Home Care is definitely a cut above the others. They are excellent and I give them my highest recommendation!
Phionah has been a lifesaver for my family. My Mom, who is 88 years old, cares for my Dad, 89 years old ,in their home. My Dad suffers from Parkinson’s Disease and Diabetes and is incapable of caring for himself. Phionah has stepped in and provided a caring, loving and warm touch to my parents’ household. Phionah not only helps my Dad with the basic necessities, but she often heats up meals and plays games with him to stimulate his mind. I don’t know what we would do without her. She always has a smile and nothing is ever too much.
I feel very lucky to have found Effective Home Care. Sarah and the other caregivers have been so helpful, incredibly kind, professional, and reliable. It’s our first time hiring anyone to help with my disabled 87 year old mom. I had been doing all the care myself for over three years and it got to be too much. We took a chance based on good reviews and we are so grateful. I wasn’t sure how my very particular, very nervous mother would feel having caregivers, it’s a difficult thing to accept as an aging person. But the folks Effective Home Care has sent have each made friends with Mom so quickly, she doesn’t feel like we hired babysitters, she feels like she’s having company over! And I know if someone ever wasn’t a good fit we could say so. But so far it’s been great. I can sleep at night knowing someone kind is helping mom get to the bathroom safely. I can run errands and know she’s got attentive company keeping her safe from falls. During the day the caregivers help her stay active and engaged but also give her the alone time she needs as well so when I come home she’s not exhausted. Choosing Effective Home Care has made aging in place possible for Mom and prevents me from getting burned out so I can continue to help her as well. It was such a difficult step to take but now we’ve taken it, I’m so relieved! I would recommend this company without reservation to any of my friends choosing someone to help their loved ones.
I had private aides and often times they had last minute issues that required their absences. This has occurred a couple dozen times over the course of my parents care. Effective Home Care, on every single occasion, often with little or even ah hours notice, found coverage for me every time. Obviously they have the contacts and resources to provide reliable service. Secondly, their aides are professional, experienced, and compassionate. I did not have one single issue and am very grateful to them in providing my parents care needs.

We have been very pleased with the service we have gotten. My husband is currently recovering from surgery and is using a Hoyer lift. We have had several men and they are warm, compassionate, caring and wonderful. Sam has been here the most and he is kind, considerate and is such a help to me and my husband. Phiona has been an exceptional caregiver. She has been caring for my parents for about 9 months, in-home, for 12 hour shifts. She has been doing the care directly and has also arranged for other caregivers as well. She is caring, responsible, punctual and reliable. She is personable and organized and a very skilled caregiver. She is always positive and upbeat. She has cared for my father who has dementia and my mother, both age 89, and both with mobility issues. She has arranged for extra caregivers when needed, on short notice, and has always been available to help. She has allowed me to be able to go to work without worrying about the daily care of my parents. I would highly recommend Phiona and Effective home Care.
